WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP As the sun rose Thursday, Cincinnati's famous runaway cow headed to New York and a life of leisure.
The quiet departure of Cinci Freedom to an animal sanctuary by trailer, not hoof was anticlimactic.
She's different, said Dennis Dowers, who helped catch her and then boarded her at his farm for weeks. They might as well accept that in New York.
As she ran from the barn into the trailer, two bulls roared.
Perhaps they'd heard of her reputation. In February, she escaped from a Camp Washington slaughterhouse and led a 10-day search in Clifton.

Her testy personality ended a brief appearance in the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade.
Mr. Dowers saw Marge Schott feeding the cow that day. I said, "Mrs. Schott, you'd better be careful.' She said, "Mister, I know cows. I've got cows at home.' I said, "Yes, but you don't have a cow like this one.'
Mr. Dowers is taking the cow to a Watkins Glen, N.Y., animal sanctuary owned by pop artist Peter Max.
Pat Halpin of Colerain Township, who accompanied Mr. Dowers on the trip, said, Denny said he'll pull the trailer into the field in New York, open the gate and say, "Now, get out of here!'
