HAMILTON The Butler County Sheriff's Office has made two more arrests involving the powerful, widely abused prescription painkiller OxyContin.
Michael Ledford, 33, of the 900 block of Heaton Street, faces charges of trafficking in drugs, having weapons while prohibited, possession of a dangerous ordnance, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff's Capt. Greg Blankenship on Thursday said Mr. Ledford had a 120-pill prescription filled on Monday; when arrested Tuesday, all but 37 were gone. Police say Mr. Ledford reached for a .22-caliber revolver when they raided his home. They said another weapon, an illegal 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, was within his reach.
Police said Mr. Ledford has a criminal history and has served time for burglary, and therefore was forbidden from possessing guns.
No court information on Mr. Ledford was available Thursday.
Police confiscated $8,500 and bottles for several prescriptions, including OxyContin.
Perry Patton, also known as Terry Patton, 39, of the 900 block of South Ninth Street, got a 90-pill prescription filled Tuesday; when arrested Wednesday, he'd already sold them all, Capt. Blankenship said.
Police confiscated 38 prescription bottles for OxyContin and other drugs, and $352.
Mr. Patton is charged with trafficking in drugs, permitting drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Patton, who has been released on $5,061 bond, has a hearing Monday in Hamilton Municipal Court.
