Stolen van escapes after long, fast chase
A person driving a stolen van avoided road blocks, caused an accident and sped up to 110 mph down Interstate 75 Saturday morning before giving police the slip at the Kentucky boarder.
Officers from at least three departments along the I-75 corridor were involved in the wild chase which started at 7:46 a.m. when a Huber Heights, Ohio, police officer tried to pull over the van for running a red light at Ohio 201 near Dayton.
Thirty-three minutes after it began, Huber Heights Police broke off the chase near the Monroe exit on I-75 for safety reasons. Officer Chris Johnson said it began to rain and the officer lost radio contact with his dispatch center in Montgomery County.
Police from West Chester and Lockland picked up the chase until the vehicle entered Cincinnati. The chase nearly ended when the van crashed into a car on Fort Washington Way. But the driver took off and the van was last seen crossing the Brent Spence Bridge into Kentucky.
Cincinnati Police refused to release any information on the chase, and it is not known if anyone was injured.
Man faces six charges after police chase
A Springfield Township man faces six charges after he allegedly stole a car and jewelry Saturday, shot at the owner, crashed the vehicle and was found to be carrying marijuana and crack cocaine.
Dante Price, 28, of the 1200 block of Bellune Drive was arrested by Cincinnati Police about 3 p.m. after a brief police chase when he wrecked the 1998 Chevy he was driving in the 700 block of Ridgeway Avenue, Avondale.
Mr. Price is charged with aggravated robbery, driving with a suspended license, failure to comply, not wearing a seatbelt and two counts of drug abuse.
Police were alerted by the owner of the car, who said he was following the stolen vehicle at the time. Mr. Price, who allegedly refused to stop for police until he crashed, was found with a loaded 9 mm pistol in his waistband, the complainant's jewelry and drugs.
Mr. Price told arresting officers that the owner of the car rented it to him.

The suspect is described as a black man, mid-20s, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, with several upper and lower gold teeth. He was last seen entering a black Nissan Maxima or Sentra with chrome wheels. The car was last seen heading east on Livingston Street.

Power restored; more storms coming
Power was fully restored by 5 a.m. Saturday to the last of more than 6,000 Cinergy customers who lost power during a brief but powerful storm Friday evening.
Cinergy spokesman Dave Woodburn said 5,800 customers in Ohio and 650 in Kentucky were affected. Mount Washington, Loveland, Montgomery and Taylor Mill, Ky., were some of the communities hardest hit.
Hail, high winds, heavy rains and lightning caused many trees and wires to topple.
Showers are expected today through Monday morning but clouds should break for some sun Monday afternoon, say meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.
Another storm front is expected Wednesday. High temperatures this week will be in the 50s and 60s, a contrast to the mid-80s recorded last week.
