FAIRFIELD Lynn Kitchen will leave the Wyoming Schools this summer to become assistant superintendent for the Fairfield Schools.
Ms. Kitchen, 47, was given a two-year contract by the Fairfield Board of Education during a special meeting Monday. She will earn $94,000 annually and begins work Aug. 1. Fairfield Assistant Superintendent Catherine Milligan will work with Ms. Kitchen until Ms. Milligan's Dec. 31 retirement.
We chose Lynn because of her background, her focus on instructional programs and her focus on kids, said Fairfield Superintendent Robert Farrell, who recommended Ms. Kitchen from a pool of 25 applicants.
I have a feeling you are going to be a good fit. We have heard good things about you, said Anne Crone, president of the Fairfield Board of Education.
This year Mrs. Milligan said she would retire Dec. 31 after 30 years in the Fairfield schools, where's she's been a teacher, assistant principal, elementary school principal, curriculum director and assistant superintendent.
""I look forward to the opportunity to work with Dr. Farrell and the whole administrative team, Ms. Kitchen said. ""Fairfield has so much potential. It's already achieved a lot.
Ms. Kitchen has been director of human resources for the Wyoming Schools since 1999.
From 1984 until her Wyoming appointment, Ms. Kitchen worked in the Sycamore Schools, first as a teacher at Sycamore High School, then as the school's assistant principal, associate principal and principal. Before that she worked as a teacher in the Northwest, Mount Healthy, Deer Park and Madeira schools.
