Delhi Flower wins show's top prize

        Delhi Flower and Garden Center's exhibit featuring plant materials combined with replicas of Cincinnati landmarks was awarded the Cincinnati Flower Show's top award, the Royal Horticultural Society's Silver Gilt Flora Medals.

        Delhi, and designer Tim Young, have won the prestigious award four times, more than any other exhibitor at the show, which began in 1989.

        This year's show, at Ault Park in Mount Lookout (9 a.m.-6 p.m.; $15, $3 children at the gate), closes its five-day run today.

        Other 2002 award winners:

        • American Horticultural Society (AHS) Gold Medal: Marvin's Organic Gardens, single genus, Japanese maples.

        • AHS Silver Medal: Krismer's Northgate, single genus, caladiums.

        • AHS Flower Show Award: H.J. Benken Florist and Greenhouse, “Under Repair” exhibit.

        • Chicago Horticultural Society Medal: Egbers Land Design, “A Tribute to Rosemary Verey: A Fragrant Oasis.”

        • Cincinnati Enquirer Award (Best of Show in dramatic table settings): H.J. Benken, “A Forgotten Interlude.”

        • Molly Klinedinst Award (novice exhibitor in dramatic table settings): Nyla's Flowers, “Cin-Spended.”

        • 12 WKRC-TV Crystal Star Award (Best of Show in container gardens): Jennifer Radcliffe of Greenfield Plant Farm, “Verde Grey.”

        • Professional Florists of Greater Cincinnati (Best of Show in professional floristry): Adam Wissel of H.J. Benken, “Mystical Medieval Magical.”

        • Frances Jones Poetker Award (Best of Show in professional floristry; creativity): Dale Kabbes of Mattfeld's Florist and Greenhouse, “Love Conch-ers All.”

        • Irine Leininger Perpetual Award (Best new exhibitor): Noa Carpenter of Mount Washington Florist, “United Again — A Tribute to the Queen Mother.”

        • Cincinnati Flower Growers Association Award (Best of Show in window boxes): Western Hills Country Club Garden Club, “Cincinnati Traditions.”

        • Needle Art in Horticulture Best of Show: Shirley Poppelwell, “Four Seasons.”

        • Governor's Award (professional): Turpin Farms, “Birds and Butterflies.”

        • Mayor's Award (amateur): Munich Park Board.

        • Cincinnati Horticultural Society (CHS) amateur: Susy Spence.

        • CHS professional: Professional Florists Association of Cincinnati, “Farm Animal Mosaics.”

        • Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Distinguished Garden Award: Right Thyme Gardenware and the Loveland Greenhouse, “Animal Botanical — All Things Wild and Wonderful.”

        • Janet Meakin Poor Award: Midwest Landscape Network, “Horticultural Heritage.”

        • Country Living Gardener Award: Allison Landscape and Water Gardens, “Cascading Reflections of Time.”

        • Cincinnati Park Department Award: Urban Thickets Landscapes, “Prairie House and Garden USA, circa 1400.”
