Cinergy, union resume bargaining

        Negotiators for Local 600 Utility Workers Union of America and Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. are slated to return to the bargaining table today.

        A contract extension for Local 600, which represents about 900 CG&E employees, runs through today. The company presented what it said was its final contract offer two weeks ago, but union officials refused to present the offer to union members.
       

Hotel opening soon in Oxford

        Oxford's central business district is expected to get its newest hotel within two months. The Elms-Holiday Inn Hotel is scheduled to open by July 1.

        The 60-room hotel is the 14th built by Hotel Development Services, based in Oxford. It will include 12 suites, three restaurants and a sports bar.

        A grand opening for the hotel will be held in early August.
       

Scripps' Hickok gets promotion

        Cincinnati-based E.W. Scripps Co. promoted Lori A. Hickok from chief corporate development analyst to vice president and controller, effective June 1.

        Ms. Hickok, 39, succeeds J. Robert Routt, who is taking early retirement from Scripps May 31 after 21 years.

        Ms. Hickok joined Scripps in 1988 as a financial analyst.
       

Macy's West chairman named

        Cincinnati's Federated Department Stores Inc. said Robert Mettler has been named chairman and chief executive of the company's Macy's West division. Mr. Mettler replaces Jeremiah Sullivan, 63, who retired.
