A Madeira couple have been named honorary chairs of the Better Housing League's 15th Annual Night at the Races fund raiser at Turfway Park, Sept. 19.
They are David R. Barnaclo and Laura Ryan-Barnaclo of Barnaclo Home Loans in Symmes Township.
The drive is used to help families acquire and retain safe, affordable housing, said Deborah Murphy, event chairman. Last year's Night at the Races grossed $52,000.
Dave and Laura have supported Better Housing League's mission for many years, through both the Night at the Races event and the agency's Homeownership Project, said Ms. Murphy, of Neil Murphy Homes.
Mr. Barnaclo is founder, president and chief executive officer of Barnaclo Home Loans, a residential mortgage lending company.
We are looking forward to serving as the honorary chairs, he said. This is for a good cause because the money is used by Better Housing League to educate people how to be homeowners.
Mrs. Ryan-Barnaclo joined the company in 1991 and is a board member and director of marketing.
The Night at the Races event includes a cocktail reception at 5:45 p.m., followed by a dinner at 7 at Turfway Park's Racing Club and Terrace.
Others on the event committee are: Sy Brown, Rebecca McLean, Sharon Hardin, Rachael Cox, Everett Cork, J.J. Johnson-JioDucci, Tiffany Livingston, Sarah Muller, Susan Smith, Dave Seibert and Robert Rhein.
Better Housing League is a United Way-funded agency established in 1916. Its mission is to offer counseling, education and advocacy.

The company has raised $25,000 for the American Cancer Society with the fund drive, said Mike Dahm, owner of Mike's Express Car Wash.
