NKU's Bown named GLVC co-Coach of Year

Northern Kentucky's Kathy Bown has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference softball co-Coach of the Year.
Bown, who led NKU to a school-record 36 wins this season, shared the honor with Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville's Sandy Montgomery. The Norse are 36-11 and expect to receive a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament when the pairings are announced today.
NKU's Angie Lindeman was named GLVC Freshman of the Year. Lindeman is hitting .430 with an NKU single-season record 37 RBI.
Freshman pitcher Emily Breitholle (Fairfield) and freshman third baseman Carrie Higgins (Seton) also earned first-team All-GLVC honors. Breitholle is the first 20-game winner in Norse history with a 20-4 record. Higgins is batting .324 with seven doubles.
