McCallum named to college hall
Former Navy running back Napoleon McCallum (Milford High) was among 13 players and two coaches
selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
McCallum's 7,172 all-purpose yards rank second in NCAA history. He set 26 school records at the Naval Academy, including the career rushing mark, single-season rushing yardage, career kickoff return, career punt return and most 100-yard games in a career. He joins another Cincinnati native and Navy product, Roger Staubach (Purcell), in the college hall.
Former coaches Earle Bruce, who won 81 games in nine years at Ohio State, and Carmen Cozza, who spent 31 seasons at Yale after coaching at Miami University, also were selected for induction.
Former Pittsburgh quarterback Dan Marino and Tennessee defensive tackle Reggie White topped the 2002 College Hall of Fame class. Two players previously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame former Southern California safety Ronnie Lott and Missouri tight end Kellen Winslow are also in the college hall.
Other players selected for induction are Michigan offensive guard Reggie McKenzie, Arizona State receiver John Jefferson, Auburn receiver Terry Beasley, Minnesota tailback George Sonny Franck, Texas offensive tackle Jerry Sisemore, Princeton running back Cosmo Iacavazzi, Kansas State linebacker Gary Spani and Georgia Tech defensive back Randy Rhino.
