Cincinnati moms are wired. So wired that they average 18 hours and 35 minutes online a week.

        Moms in only nine other cities spend more time online, according to a survey conducted for America Online that quizzed more than 8,000 wired mothers nationwide.

        Overall, mothers who use the Internet average 16 hours, 52 minutes online each week. Topping the list was Charleston, S.C., where moms spend 21 hours, 8 minutes online.

        Lauren Ngo, a mother of two from Anderson Township, said most of the mothers she knows use the Internet extensively. “I use it mostly for just looking up books for my children (5 and 8 years old) and buying things,” she said.

        Nine of 10 surveyed said the Internet saves them at least two hours a week. They use it to communicate with friends, get news and information, shop, educate their children and as entertainment. The most popular time to log on is 8-10 p.m.

        The survey, by Digital Marketing Services Inc., included time online at work and at home. AOL and non-AOL members both were surveyed.
