Gas pump demos being offered
Tristate United Dairy Farmers stores that are equipped with the Speedpass technology for buying gasoline started offering special demonstrations Friday.
The demonstrations will run through next weekend. The Demo Days will be available at 78 UDF stores that offer Mobil brand gasoline. Speedpass allows consumers to wave their key chain at the pump before beginning fueling. Costs are charged to a credit card.
Technology gets a helping hand
The Tri-State Growth Capital Fund has invested an undisclosed amount in two regional venture-capital funds that invest in early-stage technology companies.
The investments will go to Chrysalis Ventures II of Louisville and Athenian Venture Partners II of Athens. Tri-State was formed last year by CincyTech USA and funded by local corporations.
Pomeroy's pinch boosts earnings
Pomeroy Computer Resources Inc., Hebron-based computer sales and services supplier, reported a 56 percent increase in first-quarter earnings on lower revenues thanks to tighter cost controls.
For the three months ended April 5, Pomeroy said net income increased to $4.66 million, or 36 cents a share, from $2.93 million, or 23 cents a share, a year ago.
First-quarter revenues declined about 5 percent to $186.3 million from $195.7 million last year.
