Michigan snags Big Ten tournament title

The Associated Press

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Marissa Young pitched a three-hitter for the Wolverines as Michigan beat Ohio State 2-1 Saturday to win the Big Ten Conference Softball Tournament.

The Wolverines automatically advance to the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes are expected to find out Sunday whether they will advance.

The only scores in the game, which pitted No. 1 seed Michigan against No. 2 Ohio State, came in the first inning.

Michigan scored two runs on a two-out single by Melinda Moulden, and Ohio State scored on an RBI single Stacy Roth.

Wendy Allen took the loss for the Buckeyes, striking out six and allowing seven hits and two runs.
