Turn lane plans in works, ramp wanted
By Walt Schaefer, wschaefer@enquirer.com

QUESTION: The state spent a significant amount of money to redo the intersection of Kemper and Pippin Roads in Colerain Township. Unfortunately, nothing was done with the intersection of Hamilton Avenue (U.S. 127) and Kemper, to the east. There should be turn lanes on northbound Hamilton and eastbound Kemper. At times, it is impossible to turn from eastbound Kemper to northbound Hamilton.
As bad as this is, the intersection of Kemper and Colerain Avenue (U.S. 27) is worse.
There, when motorists turn onto southbound Colerain, they have to cross four lanes. Is anything planned to fix these intersections?
D. W. Thompson,
Colerain Township
ANSWER: Kim Patton, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, said there are plans to install left turn lanes on Hamilton Avenue (U.S. 127) at Kemper Road. The state also would like to construct a ramp to Colerain Avenue (U.S. 27) from Kemper Road on the west side of Colerain to eliminate the need for motorists to turn left onto Colerain. Traffic would be able to turn onto the ramp from Kemper and only have to make a right turn onto Colerain.
While these plans are on the drawing board, adequate funding to complete them is unavailable, Mrs. Patton said.
Q: For several months, many of the signs on the east end of the Ronald Reagan Highway (Ohio 126) have been without lights. Are there any plans to relight those signs?
Robert Gailey
Blue Ash
A: Mrs. Patton said pavement and bridges have been repaired between Interstate 71 and Montgomery Road. One of the last remaining items in the project is to repair lighting. That should be completed within the next month.
Q: Can you tell us when repair work on the Interstate 275 and Wards Corner Road overpass will be completed?
D. Rasmussen,
Miami Township, Clermont County
A: Mrs. Patton said The Wards Corner overpass was recently completed.
