Sicilian soprano Desiree Rancatore is unable to perform in Friday's May Festival concert because of a delay in receiving her visa, Festival management announced late Monday.
Soprano Maureen O'Flynn will step in to sing the soprano solo in Beethoven's C Major Mass and the Finale from Fidelio, conducted by James Conlon. Ms. O'Flynn last appeared locally in the title role of Cincinnati Opera's Lucia di Lammermoor in 1997.
Ms. Rancatore is still scheduled to perform at the May 24 and 25 concerts.
The May Festival season kicks off Friday in Music Hall with five concerts spanning two weekends. Information: 381-3300 or www.mayfestival.com.
