The Great Miami Arts Jam, coming up Sunday, is an easy way to get acquainted with the visual and performing arts.
This is the second year the Fitton Center for Creative Arts has teamed up with WGUC-FM, Cincinnati's classical music radio station, for a day of family fun.
This is going to be a great day of free arts activities designed especially for families with young children, said Paul Thoms, public relations director for the Fitton Center. Kids will have a chance to sculpt clay figures, make paper and puppets, participate in dance and drama workshops, and even make a musical instrument and then play it with a symphony orchestra.
Although the activities are planned to appeal to children, adults are welcome to participate, too. Those who would rather just look and listen can check out the exhibits, demonstrations and entertainment. The event will feature short performances by the Great Miami Youth Orchestra, Miami University Steel Drum Band and the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra.
