NKU loses NCAA regional baseball opener




        ASHLAND, Ohio — Eric Caldwell had three hits and three RBI Thursday as Saginaw Valley State University defeated Northern Kentucky University 9-6 in the first round of the NCAA Division II North Central Region Tournament.

        Jason Martin (Oak Hills High School) led NKU with two hits and three RBI, but the Norse were unable to overcome a 9-2 deficit against the Cardinals.

        NKU dropped to 35-23 and will meet Grand Valley State today at 10 a.m. in the losers' bracket game of the double-elimination tournament.
