Years of abuse took their toll on Vicki Glick, so much so that when she learned her father had held a gun to her mother's head and threatened to hurt her, the Pierce Township woman snapped, her attorney said Thursday.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 5, Ms. Glick took a .357 revolver to Room 216 of Mercy Hospital Anderson, where her 75-year-old father, Robert Price, was hospitalized.
Consumed by what the prosecution described as a fit of passion, Ms. Glick shot her father repeatedly in the head.
On Thursday, before Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Robert Kraft, Ms. Glick withdrew her plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, admitted her guilt and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Through tears, the 52-year-old woman spoke briefly to family members sitting in the courtroom.
I love all of you and appreciate your support. I miss you and I'll be home as soon as I can, Ms. Glick said before being led away by a sheriff's deputy.
Her attorney, Peter Rosenwald, said his client was sorry for what she had done, but at the time believed she needed to protect her mother.
Initially charged with aggravated murder, Ms. Glick pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. The charge carries a 310-year sentence.
Judge Kraft sentenced Ms. Glick to seven years, along with a mandatory three years because she used a gun and called the incident a terrible tragedy.
