        Promotions & new on the job: • Timothy J. Bonacci has been named vice president at Fifth Third Bank. Mr. Bonacci joined Fifth Third in 2001 and is vice president and manager of the private client service group for Fifth Third Investment Advisors. He is responsible for sales and relationship management activities of the personal wealth management services.

        He has a bachelor's in economics from Pennsylvania State University and a master's in finance from St. Joseph's University.

        • Barbara J. Helm has joined Dental Care Plus as sales and service representative.

        • Aubrey Herman has joined American Express Financial Advisors as financial adviser in the Florence branch office.

        • Karen Lowery has been named director of community services at Colonial Senior Services. Mrs. Lowery has been coordinating the Meals on Wheels program, healthcare insurance counseling, monthly blood pressure/blood sugar screenings, annual wellness fair and lifeline. As director she will be promoting and expanding all of Colonial Senior Services' community programs.

        • Donald S. Mendelsohn, partner at Thompson Hine LLP, has been named to the board of trustees for the Cincinnati Opera.

        • Kathy Kennedy-Brunner has been appointed branch manager of the Price Hill Branch Library and Tina Messerschmidt, branch manager of the Norwood Branch Library.

        • Kevin V. Simon and David B. Snyder have become associated with the law firm of Schwartz, Manes & Ruby.

        • Tom Henning has been named business development manager at Oswald Co. Inc.

        • Appointed officers of the Cincinnati Insurance board: Timothy E. Marty, Ted Marty & Associates Inc., president; Charles E. Kaiser, Schiff, Kreidler-Shell Inc., president-elect; Wayne Guckenberger, AAA Cincinnati Insurance Services Inc., treasurer; and Ken Kesterson, Paul Cain Insurance Agency Inc., past president.

        • Dr. Brian Smith has joined the Edgewood office of Summit Medical Group.

        • Cheery Malone has been named manager of Coldwell Banker West Shell, Crestview Hills office.

        • The following have joined Sibcy Cline Realtors as residential real estate specialists: Don McClanahan, Carl Hill and Ann Nash, Montgomery office, and Cheryl O'Donnell, Northern Hills. The following have joined Sibcy Cline as real estate sales associates: Leanne Tranor, Harrison; Leslie Brandenburg, Anderson; and Rebekah Brown, Gary Starmack, and Christine Breitenbach, West Chester.

        • Larry Blackburn has been named account executive for the health care market for the Cincinnati business office of Turner Construction Co. Mr. Blackburn is responsible for health care marketing, sales and operations. He began his career with Turner in 1980. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio and holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

        • Stephanie Taylor has joined Freedman, Gibson & White Inc. as director of business development. Ms. Taylor will head new business efforts. She has a degree in English and an economics minor from Oberlin College. Her primary responsibilities will be as an agency resource in strategic planning, plan creation, database marketing and relationship marketing.

        • Douglas C. Shriver has been elected chairman of the board of directors at Anderson Bank.

        • Alan Geans has been named executive director of the Richard E. Lindner Branch YMCA.

        • Robert M. Shaffer has joined Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as a corporate attorney. Mr. Shaffer practiced in the Cincinnati office of Frost Brown Todd LLC, where he served as co-chairman of its Emerging Business and Venture Capital Practice Group. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

        • Robert Reichert, president of Kings Toyota, Cincinnati and Gerry Carmichael, vice president and general manager, have been has appointed to the Toyota Board of Governors.

        • Dan Beckley, vice president, commercial business development at Clopay Building Products in Cincinnati, has been elected a director of the International Door Association.

        • Dewayne Charles has been named manager of the Middletown contact center at Teleperformance USA, a provider of customer relationship management services.

        • Dr. Richard E. Welling, director of surgery and program director of general surgery and vascular surgery residencies at Good Samaritan Hospital, is president-elect of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery.

        • Nina M. Marx has joined Title First Agency as sales representative for the commercial division, Cincinnati office.

        • Ted A. Capossela has been named regional vice president, plastics of Contech Construction Products Inc. and James R. Noll, supervisor of engineering services.

        • Jeffrey Springer, former senior federal Food and Drug Administration official, has been appointed senior consultant and special counsel to the president for Kendle's regulatory/validation consulting subsidiary, AAC Consulting Group. Mr. Springer brings to AAC more than 30 years experience as an attorney in the FDA office of chief counsel. He most recently was senior adviser to the chief counsel and served 20 years as deputy chief counsel. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor's from George Washington University.

       

Awards & honors

        • H.J. Benken Florist and Greenhouse received a Gold Medal and the American Horticultural Society Citation Award from the Cincinnati Flower Show at Ault Park. Adam Wissel, Benken's floral design manager received Gold Medals in the Professional Floristry and Dramatic Table Settings categories and Best of Show in both categories. Floral designers also recognized for their work were Amy Montgomery, Gold Medal in Professional Floristry; Sandy Ossenschmidt, Natasha Waterman and Jenni Lewis, Silver Medals in the Professional Floristry category. In Container Gardens, Amy Drennan received a Silver Medal and Margie Bruns and Amy Montgomery received Bronze Medals.

        • Horizon Productions Inc. received a Silver International Cindy Award for a videotape ATC-Frost — Above the Best and a Bronze International Cindy Award for a children's interactive CD-ROM titled Chatter Buddies Ready for Speech: Making the "r' Sound, from the International Association of Audio Visual Communicators.

        • Cincom Systems Inc. received the 2001 International Excellence Award from India's International Study Circle in association with the Institute of Economic Studies for its economic contribution to the prosperity of India and its people.

        • Sonja Snyder, a senior financial adviser for Waddell & Reed has received the company's Crest Award.

        • Daniel J. Suer, executive director at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, has received the National Chairs Award from the College of Health Care Administrators.

        • Ed Stern, producing artistic director of the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, has received the 2002 Public Relations Society of America Presidents Award.

       

Expansion

        • Aeropostale, a clothing and accessories retailer, has opened a new store at Northgate Mall.

       

Relocations

        • Sister Cities Association of Greater Cincinnati and the International Visitors Council of Greater Cincinnati have moved to 3601 Carew Tower, 441 Vine St., downtown.
