Reagan Highway dip to be fixed
By Walt Schaefer, wschaefer@enquirer.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer
QUESTION: The Ronald Reagan Highway has serious dips just before and after several of the bridges in the vicinity of its Interstate 75 overpasses. Although the worst dips are westbound, they also exist eastbound. When will these problems be repaired?
John McManus
Finneytown
ANSWER: Kim Patton, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, said a section crosses an area where the Mill Creek once flowed. Plans are being designed to repair a bridge on the westbound side of the highway during the 2004 construction season.
Q: There is an arrow for motorists turning left onto Kemper Road from southbound Montgomery Road. However, it works sporadically. Is there a way to make it more reliable?
Gerald Leighton
Montgomery
A: Mrs. Patton said there is a sensor in the southbound left turn lane 40 feet from the stop line. At this distance, it requires two or three cars to activate the left turn arrow.
Q: Something changed in mid-April with traffic flow at the Galbraith Road and Vine Street intersection. Before then, it was fine. Now, the green light for westbound Galbraith is only 12-15 seconds and the red light is at most 60 seconds causing traffic to back up on Galbraith. Can something be done to restore the timing?
Dirk Iwema
Springfield Township
A: Cincinnati Traffic Engineer Steve Bailey said this signal was found to be malfunctioning. It has been repaired and is now operating properly. Citizens may report malfunctioning traffic signals by contacting the Public Services Customer Service line at 591-6000.
