Springboro driver causes fatal crash

ATLANTA — Two people were killed Sunday when an elderly Ohio man driving in the wrong direction ran into another car on Interstate 285.

Walter Schneider, of Springboro, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane near the Jonesboro Road exit about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. Another motorist, a 22-year-old Powder Springs, Ga., woman, could not get out of his way.

Mr. Schneider, believed to be in his mid-80s, struck the car, killing the Powder Springs woman and injuring a passenger in the woman's car.

The passenger was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries. Police did not immediately release the names of either woman.

        No charges have been filed.
