Vulcans vs. Romulans? Magazine explains all

The Arizona Republic and The Cincinnati Enquirer

Would you ever wonder what the connection was between Vulcans and Romulans?

Sure they are similar looking, considering both ethnic groups have pointed ears. But the Vulcans are peaceful and logical where the Romulans are warring and emotional.

The new issue of Star Trek Communicator magazine explores in depth the relations of the pointy-eared peoples and includes a guide to relevant episodes of Star Trek and its spinoffs.

Three Vulcans — Star Trek's Mr. Spock (actually half Vulcan, half human), Star Trek: Voyager's Tuvok and Enterprise's Sub-Commander T'Pol — gather on the cover.

The Vulcans created a passive, logic-loving society by rigorously repressing their primitive emotions.

The Romulans, though, broke away from the Vulcans thousands of years ago and pursued their own warlike, ruthless history.

You'll find interviews with Jolene Blalock (and a pullout poster of her as the sexy T'Pol in her Vulcan uniform); Leonard Nimoy, whose Spock provided the definitive interpretation of a Vulcan; and Tim Russ, who played Tuvok, Capt. Janeway's Vulcan security chief on Voyager.

The magazine also has an update on latest Star Trek ” movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, which is tentatively scheduled to hit movie screens in Cincinnati, and everywhere, in December. Nemesis has a Next Generation crew, which includes Warf, the Klingon, but no Vulcans or Romulans.
