Multi-Color buys Quick Pak Inc.

        Cincinnati based Multi-Color Corp. Monday announced the purchase of Quick Pak Inc.

        Multi-Color, which specializes in printing labels for consumer products, said Quick Pak will strengthen Multi-Color with $10 million in annual sales and a staff of 300, which is expected to remain intact. Quick Pak provides promotional packaging, assembling and fulfillment services. The purchase includes the Quick Pak production plant in Sharonville.

        Multi-Color named Gordon B. Bonfield as president of the Quick Pak division of Multi-Color. Mr. Gordon was formerly chief operating officer for Ivex Packaging. He has been on the Multi-Color board of directors since 1997.

       

Chiquita sets date for meeting

        Chiquita Brands International Inc. will have its annual shareholders meeting Aug. 2. at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza downtown.

        It will be the first annual meeting since the company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a restructured balance sheet in March. It also will be the first with Cyrus Freidheim, Chiquita's new chairman and chief executive officer, running the show.

        Former CEO Steve Warshaw resigned in March, and former chairman Carl Lindner resigned from the board of directors last month.

       

Omni hotel is now a Hilton

        Hilton Hotels Corp. Monday announced the opening of its 624-room downtown hotel.

        The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, formerly the Omni Netherland Plaza, will be operated and managed by Belvedere Hotels Ltd. under a franchise agreement.

        Plans include high-speed elevators, bathroom improvements, new furnishings and larger work desks for customers.
