OSU's Sylvester breaks hand

COLUMBUS — Ohio State forward Matt Sylvester broke a bone in his right hand during a fight and won't be able to play basketball or lift weights for at least three weeks.

Buckeyes coach Jim O'Brien said the former Moeller High star was injured defending a friend who was attacked by an unidentified assailant early Sunday. Sylvester, teammate Brandon Fuss-Cheatham and a group of friends were walking in an off-campus neighborhood when the fight occurred.

O'Brien said no police report was filed and Sylvester would not be disciplined.
