Sharonville plans . . . something
Sharonville city and tourism officials next week will announce a multimillion-dollar project that might or might not include a major expansion of the city's convention center.
Sharonville officials refused to discuss the plan Thursday.
A media alert circulated by Radisson Hotel Cincinnati North said Sharonville officials will announce plans Tuesday for a redeveloped Chester Road, including an expansion of the Sharonville Convention Center and office, retail and road improvements.
Sharonville Mayor Virgil Lovitt II declined to discuss the convention center expansion.
We are not expanding (the convention center) immediately, Mr. Lovitt said. We are not breaking ground Tuesday. ... I am only going to say something is forthcoming next Tuesday.
Chris Tompkins, director of marketing for Radisson Hotel, also declined to discuss the announcement.
The project is expected to include demolition of the Windjammer restaurant, owned by Radisson. The hotel also owns the adjacent Hairy Cactus Salon and Day Spa and Red Dog Saloon.
