Junior rowers set to compete at East Fork
The Cincinnati Enquirer
More than 700 of the best high school rowing teams in the United States will meet today in the U.S. Rowing Youth Invitational at East Fork State Park in Amelia.
The national youth championship is the prize as teams from six regions compete in 12 categories.
Cincinnati has five teams participating, four from the Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club and one from Cincinnati Country Day.
The CJRC has entries in the eight-man junior men's class, eight-man junior men's lightweight class, eight-man women's class and four-man women's class. CCD is rowing in the four-man junior men's class.
All the races are 2,000 meters on Harsha Lake.
Varsity rowing has become very popular in Cincinnati, said regatta director Mary Fran Piepmeir. That's part of the reason why we are hosting the event.
