Woman, 81, dies in crash by I-75 ramp

FLORENCE — An 81-year-old Southgate woman was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on Houston Road at the southbound exit ramp from Interstate 75.

Dufa Goodwin, a passenger in a Honda SUV, was killed in the 6:02 p.m. crash, which closed Houston Road for four hours, police said.

The accident happened in rainy weather when the driver of a northbound Ford pickup lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes of Houston Road, where it was struck by the SUV, police said. The SUV then hit a delivery truck stopped on the I-75 ramp, police said.

The Boone County coroner pronounced Ms. Goodwin dead at the scene.

The SUV driver, Sonia Peters, 42, of Covington, was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, where she was in fair condition late Thursday.

The pickup driver, Bryan Palmer, 20, of Erlanger, was taken to St. Luke Hospital West, where he was treated and released. The delivery truck driver, Joe Krach, 41, of Sharonville, Ohio, was not injured.
