Key moments in U.S.-Germany World Cup match

17th minute: Landon Donovan dribbles through the legs of a German defender and shoots to the far post. Oliver Kahn stretches to push it wide.
30th minute: Donovan goes one-on-one with Kahn but has no help, and the big German keeper snuffs out the chance.
35th minute: Good chance for Germany's Michael Ballack off a corner kick, but his header goes wide. Germany getting closer and closer on set pieces.
37th minute: Eddie Lewis puts a powerful shot from the top of the box straight at Kahn.
39th minute: 1-0 Germany, as Ballack outleaps the U.S. defense on a free kick and heads it home.
43nd minute: Miroslav Klose hits the post against the rattled U.S. defense.
49th minute: Gregg Berhalter connects with a corner kick that gets under Kahn but bounces up to hit Torsten Frings on the arm. The U.S. appeals for a penalty kick, but no call is made.
64th minute: Claudio Reyna bids for the goal of the tournament. Kahn ventures outside the box in a moment of confusion with a defender, and the ball comes to Reyna at the edge of the center circle. His long half-volley goes just wide and high, much to Kahn's relief.
89th minute: A final close call for the U.S., as Tony Sanneh's header just misses the post and hits the side netting.
