Hillsboro teen killed in wreck

        HILLSBORO — A Hillsboro teen was killed in a head-on crash about noon Saturday on State Route 73.

        Tommy Harrington, 17, was driving a Ford Contour westbound on State Route 73 east of Hillsboro and attempting to pass another vehicle illegally when he struck a pickup head-on, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Wilmington.

        Mr. Harrington, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

        The pickup driver, Jim Bishop, 50, of Hillsboro, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. His condition was not available. Mr. Bishop was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
