Wanted: new superintendent with vision, energy, courage, commitment
What Cincinnati School Board members seek in their next superintendent:
(The applicants) need to recognize what is necessary in an urban district.
Catherine Ingram
We are into an age of innovation and new kinds of knowledge, and we need someone who's got that broad vision and the practical day-to-day knowledge of how to put the pieces together and make the machine work.
John Gilligan
We have to be committed to finding someone who will aggressively work with all members of our staff and parents to raise student achievement at a much more rapid rate, because that is the expectation of parents and taxpayers and the requirement of President Bush's education plan.
Harriet Russell
(Someone) who is very reform-minded.
Melanie Bates
We're looking for someone who is willing to take risks, to make some changes to improve the quality of education that all children have.
Dr. Florence Newell
We want someone who can keep up the momentum in the district. We still need a change-agent. We still need an educator with creativity. We would tend toward a creative, gutsy educator.
Rick Williams
Someone who will continue to reform our district.
