SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP — Organizers expect as many as 100,000 visitors to attend the Panegyri Greek Festival, which began Friday night and runs through Sunday. Those who come to the party will be treated to a full table of Greek food including baklava, souvlakis, gyros and Greek pizza.

“Greeks always have a full table and an open door,” said Buzzy Gaz, one of the organizers. “We make everyone Greek for the weekend.”

In addition to the authentic eats, those who attend can expect to hear Greek music and see feet moving. A Greek-flavored band from Canada, Pavlo, is performing for those who wish to dance.

IF YOU GO
    • What: Panegyri Greek Festival. Food, dancing and more.
    • When: 3 p.m. to midnight today, and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
    • Where: Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road, Springfield Township. 591-0030.
    • Information: Visit on the Web.
    • Admission: $2 per person or two nonperishable food items, to be collected by the FreeStore/FoodBank.
“I'm always excited because we Greeks love to share our culture and heritage with the community,” Mr. Gaz said.

Dancing exhibitions will take place every hour throughout the weekend. Admission is $2 or two non-perishable food items that will be delivered to charity.

“I love to watch the dancing, because the kids put so much life into it,” said Angie Sampson, 74, who has worked at the last 23 festivals. “The music is wonderful, and of course, the food is great.”

Organizers are confident that the weather will hold for the weekend's festivities. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 80s.

“We'll let the clouds squeeze out the last few drops,” Mr. Gaz said. “But we'll run — rain or shine.”
