Gas plant worker's death probed
The Cincinnati Enquirer
MONROE The death of a 23-year-old Middletown man, who went into cardiac arrest at a job site here, is being investigated.
Brandon Jones was pronounced dead Friday afternoon at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where he was flown after being found unresponsive at the Teppco bulk gas plant at Todhunter and Yankee roads.
Fire Capt. John Centers said the victim was working around gas pipe at the time of the incident, but what may have caused his heart to stop beating remained under investigation.
Mr. Jones was not a Teppco employee, Capt. Centers said. He was working for another contractor at the Teppco site.
However, officials from Teppco's Houston headquarters were traveling to Monroe to conduct their own investigation, Capt. Centers said.
Also, Teppco has arranged for stress debriefing counselors to be available for employees, Capt. Centers said.
