PlusSize hits Main Street
Jeff Recker says that without the help of Main Street Ventures, his company would not be the success it is.
Main Street Ventures was formed in June of 1999 as a nonprofit organization to help develop a technology-focused community in downtown Cincinnati. Companies such as Jump Inc., Digital Bang and Ethos Interactive (now Eviciti) had already located in the neighborhood to take advantage of the area's low rents, eclectic population and cheap access to broadband service.
Taft, Stettinius & Hollister and Deloitte & Touche made the first financial contributions to Main Street Ventures, allowing the organization to begin its resident program. More financial support came from Fifth Third Bank, the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, marchFIRST and the Oracle Corp.
Main Street Ventures provides space for 15 resident companies, including PlusSize.com, and more support for hundreds of entrepreneurs and individuals committed to Cincinnati's new economy.
Through Main Street Ventures we found our accountant and our attorney. Both have supported us as investors, said Mr. Recker. We have launched our company by raising less than $100,000.
