Sunday crowd of 64,500 sets record
The finale of the four-day Rev. Billy Graham Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Mission set an attendance record at Paul Brown Stadium tonight.
Midway through the Rev. Mr. Graham's sermon, it was announced 65,600 had come through turnstiles to hear what was likely the ailing 83-year-old evangelist's final sermon in Cincinnati.
The Rev. Mr. Graham ended his four-day mission by saying, "May God bless Cincinnati. We love you." He received a thunderous standing ovation.
Going into tonight's sermon, about 136,000 people attended the mission. Of these, more than 4,000 made commitments of faith during the altar calls. Here's the day-by-day breakdown:
Thursday night: 35,000 people; 2,269 inquirers
Friday night: 38,000 people; 2,001 inquirers
Saturday's Kidz Gig: 13,000 people; 1,507 inquirers
Saturday's Concert for the Next Generation: 50,000 people; 2,715 inquirers
An estimated 201,000 people attended October 2001's Central Valley crusade in Fresno, Calif. Of those, 14,731 people responded to the altar call.
Last June, 191,500 people went to the Greater Louisville crusade, and there were 10,321 inquirers.
