        Promotions & new on the job

        • Chip Berry has joined Johnson Investment Counsel Inc. as marketing manager. Mr. Berry has over 10 years of marketing and advertising experience in the fields of finance and technology. He will be responsible for managing the marketing department, public relations, marketing communications, website management, advertising and marketing strategy for the firm. He graduated from Heidelberg College with a bachelor's degree in business administration and from Xavier University with a master's degree in marketing.

        • Timothy T. Wilson has been appointed partner at BKD, LLP, in charge of the Cincinnati office.

        • Jay Brinker has joined Mycom Group Inc. a technology products, services, and software company, as sales and marketing manager of Mycom's software sales division, Broughton International; and Andrew Mechlin has been appointed sales and marketing manager of consulting services at mycomPRO software products.

        • Sallie A. Conyers has joined the law firm of Wood & Lamping LLP as an associate in the litigation department. Ms. Conyers recently graduated from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. She will practice primarily in domestic relations, family law and bankruptcy.

        • The following have joined Deloitte & Touche as new partners, principals and directors: Brian Carley, Lynn Good, Dan Holthaus, Thomas Johnson, Jerry Reichert, Jim Sowar, Alex Torok, Bob Bitter, Gene Ewing and Ray van der Horst.

        • Amy Whisenhunt has joined Angie's List as the Cincinnati market manager, a consumer advocate service that collects and disseminates unbiased ratings based on consumer opinion, on local services ranging from home to auto to pet care.

        • Jerry L. Green has been appointed corporate director of transportation/logistics for Contech Construction Products Inc.

        • Jane Vernon-Harter has joined Bittners Interior Design Studio in Cincinnati as an interior designer. Ms. Vernon-Harter will be working with clients in the Cincinnati and Lexington markets. She attended the New York School of Interior Design. She is a two time recipient of the Harbine Chatfield A.S.I.D. Design Award for best large residential design in the Ohio-Kentucky chapter. For the past 10 years her work has been showcased in five Cincinnati designer showhouses.

        • Elected new officers of Kids Voting of Southwest Ohio: Daniel P. Meyer, president and chief executive officer of Copernus, chairman; Barbara Christensen, social studies curriculum manager for Cincinnati Public Schools, vice chair; Chris Houser, tax manager for Deloitte & Touche, treasurer; and Julie Stautberg, director of the Hamilton County Board of Elections, secretary.

        • Bing G. Spitler has been named executive director of Historic Southwest Ohio. Mr. Spitler plans to develop Historic Southwest Ohio, the Heritage Village and the Hauck House, into the premier educational institution in the Ohio Valley. He is a graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor of science degree in philosophy and Pennsylvania State University with a master's of education degree.

        • Michael W. Hawkins, partner at Dinsmore & Shohl, has been elected to the National American Red Cross Board of Governors.

        • William J. Kathman Jr. of Busald Funk Zevely, has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of the Center for Resolution of Disputes.

        • Erwin D. Hein has joined CDS Associates Inc., Engineers-Architects-Planners-Surveyors as a designer, and Jody R. Leaf joined the firm as administrative assistant in the architectural and planning group.

        • Bud White has joined Comey & Shepherd Realtors as an associate specializing in residential sales, Mariemont office.

        • Dimitrios (Jim) A. Contis has joined Fifth Third Bank Investment Advisors as vice president of asset management sales. Mr. Contis is responsible for the development and implementation of asset management, marketing and sales for institutional marketplace. He was regional director of sales and marketing for Mellon Employee Benefit Solutions in Pittsburgh, where he worked for 13 years. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Robert Morris College in Caraopolis, Pa.

        • Ronald Reising has been appointed vice president, finance at Cinergy and Wendy Aumiller as treasurer.

        • Jeanine L. Rutherford has joined USI Midwest as account manager. Ms. Rutherford will focus on service to employee benefit clients and developing new employee benefit business for the company. She was an employee benefits assistant for Pennacle Advisory Group in Cincinnati for 12 years.

       

Awards & honors

               • Frank Savage of Cincinnati, has received the 2002 College of Pharmacy Distinguished Service Award from the Idaho State University.

        Mr. Savage, an Idaho State University alumni, received the award in recognition and appreciation of outstanding service to the college. He has over 40 years experience in the health care industry including positions held with Dow Pharmaceuticals, Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals and Marion Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals. For the past five years, he has worked full time at Agouron Pharmaceuticals, a Pfizer company.

        • Wilbert L. Ziegler, senior partner in the law firm of Ziegler & Schneider, has received the University of Cincinnati Alumni Distinguished Award for the year 2002. Mr. Ziegler was honored for his leadership, generous involvement, and personal effort on behalf of the University.
