Miami grads win video awards
Two Miami University graduates won top prizes in the annual competition of the National Association of Television Programming Executives' Educational Foundation.
They are Katie Carpenter, who won $3,000 for her first-place entry, Miami University: A Diary, and Kimberly Keder, who won $1,000 for her runner-up entry, Home at Miami University.
They graduated from Miami in May with bachelor of arts degrees in communication.
Howard Kleiman, faculty adviser and professor of mass communication at Miami University, will be a faculty fellow at the association's 2003 conference and exhibition in New Orleans, Jan. 20-23.
The association of TV executives will donate an amount matching the first and runner-up prizes to Miami University's Communication Department.
Entries are student-produced video or film productions, less than two minutes in length, that relate to the applicant's school.
The educational foundation was begun in 1978 to promote educational activities on behalf of the association.
