LaSalle graduate named Eagle Scout

        Michael Gemmell, Troop 850, has achieved the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America: the Eagle Scout Award. For his Eagle community project, he built a footbridge, reclaimed a trail and installed benches in mediation meditation areas at Michaela Farm in Oldenburg, Ind.

        The recent graduate of La Salle High School is the son of Mary Ann and Jim Gemmell of Covedale.

        Airman promoted: Nicholas Gardner has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant iin the Air Force. He The senior airman is a communications-computer systems operations journeyman assigned to the 16th Communications Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The graduate of William Mason High School is the son of Betty Anne and John Gardner of Mason.

        Artwork judged: The artwork of students from five schools advanced through the Regional Scholastics Art Competition and went on to New York City for national judging.

        Amelia High School — Kyle Wehrle.

        Lakota East High School — Yurika Asami, Jacob Grant, Zach Kestermann, Mike Lea, Sooji Lee, Samantha Reno, Casey Sears and Corrie Walters.

        Mason High School — Sarah Davis, Joachim de Brunier; Molly McLoughlin, Beth Montoney, Andy Rowland and Courtney Sanborn.

        McNicholas High School — Kathryn Suellentrop.

        Summit Country Day School — Eighth-grader Stephanie Long.

        Winners may receive cash awards, scholarships, certificates and exhibition opportunities.
