Dozens fight outside Springdale theater
SPRINGDALE - The four-year-old Showcase Cinemas theater, 12064 Springfield Pike, experienced its biggest fight ever on Friday night.
The fracas involving about two dozen 15- to 21-year-old youths began shortly after midnight and led to the use of police dogs, response from several surrounding law enforcement agencies and the arrest of a Springfield man.
Brandon Hughes, 18, of 915 Ledro St., was cited for misconduct at the scene of an emergency and for taunting and harassing a police dog. He will be arraigned July 29 in Hamilton County Municipal Court.
Springdale Police do not know what caused the fight but said that the crowd, surrounded by hundreds of bystanders, calmed down after at least 25 police officers from Springdale and surrounding agencies rushed to the theater and used chemical spray on the fighting crowd outside the theater.
