Fangman attacked; man arrested

An Over-the-Rhine man has been arrested for assaulting Cincinnati Police Officer Keith Fangman, former president of the Fraternal Order of Police, early Saturday morning.

Raymond White, 44, of the 200 block of Twelfth Street faces a charge of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. According to the police report, Mr. White was sleeping on sidewalk at 30 E. Liberty St., in Over-the-Rhine when Officer Fangman drove by at about 12:40 a.m. and told him to move.

Mr. White stood up and rushed the police officer's car, punching him through the open driver's side window. The police officer exited the car, and Mr. White continued to “violently resist arrest,” the report said.

“Officer Fangman took (Mr. White) to the ground and applied chemical irritant,” the report states. He then “applied several palm strikes” until Mr. White was safely in custody.

Officer Fangman could not be reached for comment.
