Service for Eleanor Adams scheduled
By Rebecca Billman, rbillman@enquirer.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A memorial service for Eleanor Adams, former Enquirer society editor, will be 10:30 a.m. Aug.1 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 3400 Michigan Ave., Hyde Park.
Mrs. Adams, who worked for the Enquirer from 1959 until her retirement in 1980, died in her sleep Thursday. A 36-year Mount Adams resident, she was 87.
Mrs. Adams is remembered for bringing professionalism to the society pages. Holding bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism, she transformed the section from a list of who's who into a series of real stories flattering and unflattering about society's newsmakers.
Burial will be private.
Memorials: Cincinnati Zoo, 3400 Vine St., Cincinnati, OH 45220; or the Cincinnati Art Museum, 953 Eden Park Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
