Morrison gets wild card into Masters tournament
Jeff Morrison, the last American man standing at Wimbledon, has been given a wild card into the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters.
Morrison, 23, reached the round of 32 at Wimbledon, defeating top-10 player Juan Carlos Ferrero en route. He has won two Challenger events this year and ranks No.100 in the world. Morrison won the 1999 NCAA singles title at Florida. Morrison's first appearance in the main draw here was last year, when he lost in the first round to Jiri Novak.
Two-time champion Michael Chang and 2001 quarterfinalist Jan-Michael Gambill also have received wild cards.
The tournament is Aug. 11 at the ATP Tennis Center in Mason.
