More large projects north of Cincinnati

By Steve Eder, seder@enquirer.com
The Cincinnati Enquirer

In addition to the plan to construct a 432,000-square-foot development in Deerfield Township, several other retail, office and commercial projects are in the pipeline in Southeast Butler County and southern Warren County.

Here's a look at several of those projects:

At the southeast corner of Interstate 75 and Union Centre Boulevard in West Chester, a $100 million retail, residential and office complex is scheduled for completion in spring 2003. The Streets of West Chester will include a hotel and luxury apartments.

A 500,000-square-foot, open-air retail center along Tylersville Road in West Chester. The Voice of America Centre, expected to open in spring 2003, will include retail giants Target and Bigg's as the anchor stores. Construction began in June.

Pending a court appeal, the 1 million-square-foot West Chester Market Square is slotted to appear on 75 acres at the northwest corner of I-75 and Cincinnati-Dayton Road.

Plans call for an open-air upscale retail center on the northwest corner of Union Centre Boulevard and Muhlhauser Road in West Chester. Developers say The Avenue of West Chester will be a 215,000-square-foot center built on 26 acres.

Plans are in place to launch a 1.1 million-square-foot enclosed mall on 275 acres just east of the I-75/Ohio 63 interchange in Monroe. Planners expect the mall to open in fall 2006, featuring five department stores and about 150 specialty retailers. The new Monroe Mall will be situated in Warren County.

In Fairfield, plans are under way to transform Jungle Jim's International Farmer's Market into a first-class buying and eating center. The $8 million expansion includes retail and specialty shops, two restaurants, a cafi, more shopping and possibly an anchor store. Owners hope to have the expansion completed within two years. Jungle Jim's is located off Ohio 4 north of Gilmore Avenue.

In Village Green, the new downtown in Fairfield, a 77,000 square-foot Kroger store is expected to be complete by fall. Also under construction is a 29,600-square-foot strip center and two mixed-used buildings that create 23,000 square feet of retail space and 11,000 square feet of office space.
