Miami names temporary AD

Miami University President Dr. James Garland has appointed Steve Snyder as interim athletic director while the school conducts a national search for a new AD.
The 51-year-old Snyder, who serves as executive assistant to the president and secretary to the board of trustees, said he is not interested in the full-time AD job.
Joel Maturi left as Miami AD on July 13 to accept the same post at Minnesota.
This is going to be a labor of love, Snyder said. This is just a way I can give back to my alma mater, which has given me so much.
Snyder, a 1973 Miami grad, earned his MBA there in '75 and has worked for the university ever since. He served as the liaison with the NCAA during the recent accreditation review of Miami's athletic department.
He knows the staff and he knows the issues, Garland said in a statement. Joel leaves the athletic program in great shape, and I know over the next few months Steve will provide steady, capable leadership while we conduct the search.
