Son of Stadler leads Western Amateur

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. Andrew Buckle shot a 5-under-par 66 to move into a tie for the lead with Kevin Stadler in the Western Amateur.
Stadler, of Englewood, Calif., finished with a 1-under-par 70 Thursday to hold a share of the lead with Buckle at 9-under-par 133 for 36 holes at Point O'Woods Golf and Country Club.
Stadler, the 22-year-old son of PGA star Craig Stadler, started the day four shots in front of the 19-year-old Buckle. They have been paired for the tournament and will play together again Friday.
Scandinavian Masters
STOCKHOLM, Sweden Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell shot a course record 7-under-par 64 for a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the Scandinavian Masters.
McDowell, the top-ranked college golfer in the United States this past year, beat the previous Kungsangen Golf Club record by a stroke. Jesper Parnevik and Australia's Adam Scott shared the old mark with three other golfers.
Scott tied the previous record earlier Thursday, finishing with five birdies and an eagle for a 65, good for second place.
Three Englishmen, Matthew Cort, Grant Hamerton and Warren Bennett, were tied for third at 66.
