Gun found in man's carry-on at airport
The Associated Press
LOUISVILLE - Security screeners found a gun in carry-on luggage at Louisville International Airport Friday, and airport police detained a man, a spokeswoman said.
The man's identity was not immediately released. Wearing a dark shirt and shorts, he was led away by shortly before 1:30 p.m. into an unmarked vehicle at the airport.
He's been arrested and will be charged, said McKay Chauvin, an assistant U.S. attorney. He did not know what the charge would be.
A spokeswoman with Southwest Airlines confirmed that the man had been booked on a flight with the airline. Christine Turneabe-Connelly said the man was booked on Flight 554 from Louisville to Birmingham, Ala., scheduled to depart at 8:40 a.m., and he had checked one bag, which she believed to be golf clubs.
He had not declared any firearms, Ms. Turneabe-Connelly said.
He was stopped at security checkpoint for having a weapon in his carry-on, she said. At that point police or other authorities took him to be questioned.
