West, Sato, Maxiell on Wooden list
Enquirer staff and news services
Xavier senior David West and junior Romain Sato and University of Cincinnati sophomore Jason Maxiell are among the 50 players included on the John R. Wooden Preseason All-American Team and are preseason candidates for the Wooden Award.
Also on the list: Withrow graduate Brandon Hunter (Ohio) and Keith Bogans (Kentucky).
The student-athletes were selected based on last season's individual performances and team records. Only returning players were included.
Transfers and freshmen will be evaluated and considered for the midseason top 30.
West also has been selected first-team preseason All-American by ESPN analyst Dick Vitale. He is joined by Jason Gardner (Arizona), Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison (Kansas), and Mike Sweetney (Georgetown).
