The Cincinnati Enquirer
QUESTION: Southbound on Mehring Way after passing between US Bank Center and Great American Ball Park, the green light appears to be malfunctioning, causing significant backups during Cincinnati Reds games and Paul Brown Stadium events. Can this be inspected? - Beth Fennell, Downtown
ANSWER: Cincinnati Traffic Engineer Steve Bailey said an inspection revealed the traffic sensor at this location was destroyed, resulting in a short green light at Broadway. The signal has been retimed.
Q: Shady Lane in Miami Township ends at U.S. 50 (River Road). It is a dangerous intersection, particularly turning onto Shady Lane from westbound U.S. 50. Motorists approach from behind turning cars at high speed and swerve into the low-speed lane to zip around them. - Allison Kreisa, Miami Township
A: Kim Patton, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), said a turn lane at Shady Lane will be included in a U.S. 50 resurfacing project scheduled to begin this fall.
Q: I thought there were plans to add left-turn signals at the intersections of Montgomery Road with Union Cemetery and Mason-Montgomery Road. When will this occur? It is very difficult to turn left onto Montgomery Road at these intersections. - Cindy Lucas, Loveland
A: Hamilton County and ODOT are working to widen the south side of Union Cemetery Road at Montgomery Road and upgrade the signal there to include left-turn arrows, said Tom Langenbrunner of the Hamilton County engineer's office. A construction date has not been set. State officials said plans call for upgrading the Mason-Montgomery Road intersection, but no timeline has been set.
