Congrats




        Giesler graduates school cum laude: Katie Giesler has graduated cum laude from Northwood University, West Palm Beach, Fla., with a Bachelor of Business degree in marketing.

        The Goshen High School graduate is the daughter of Linda Giesler of Goshen.

        Accounting award: Zachary King, a recent graduate of Elder High School, received the Andrew Bucher & Co. Excellence in Accounting Award.

        It was the 14th year Richard and Andrew Bucher, both Elder graduates, have given the award.

        Mr. King will attend the University of Dayton, majoring in accounting.

        Eagle Scout: Christopher McKendry, Boy Scout Troop 960, has earned

        the Eagle Scout Award. For his community-service project, he led Scouts and adults in forming a new half-mile trail to a pond in Rentchler Forest Preserve in Fairfield Township.

        The son of Janet and Paul McKendry, a junior at Fairfield High School, is also captain of the Fairfield Township Fire Explorers, Post 2901.

        Scholarships won: The following Hughes Center seniors received scholarships from the Hughes Center Parent Teacher Student Organization:

        Lawrence Thomas II of the Zoo Academy Program; Rachel Carter and Rochelle Curry of the Communications Program; and Tiffini Jenkins and Dashonda Isham of the Health Professions Program.

        Seniors awarded: Adelphia Communications has awarded scholarships based on academic performance, community service and extracurricular activities to the following graduating seniors:

        Marybeth Jewell of New Richmond High School; Stephanie Lueke of Batavia High School; Daniel Sieg of Amelia High School; and Kent Thiemann of Ross High School.

        Bachelor's degree: Dan Wendell has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Ohio State University.

        He was also inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society.

        The Mason High School graduate is the son of Anne and Steve Wendell of Mason.
