MLS soccer roundup
The Associated Press
FOXBORO, Mass. Zach Thornton made seven saves for his seventh shutout of the season, and Ante Razov scored the go-ahead goal Sunday night as the Chicago Fire beat the New England Revolution 2-0.
Chicago (10-9-4), playing without U.S. national team forward Josh Wolff for the first time since he tore the ACL in his right knee, won its fourth in five games.
Razov scored in the 32nd minute off a long pass from Hristo Stoitchkov.
The Fire got their second goal in the 85th minute when New England (7-14-1) defender Leo Cullen knocked the ball into his own net trying to break up a 2-on-1 breakaway.
Crew 4, Wizards 0
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Jeff Cunningham and Edson Buddle each scored two goals as Columbus beat Kansas City.
The win kept the Crew (10-10-4) even with the Chicago Fire at the top of the Eastern Conference. With the loss, their third at home this season, the Wizards (8-8-8) remain at the bottom of the Western conference.
Cunningham opened the scoring for the Crew in the 11th minute, taking a pass across the top of the box from Brian Maisonneuve and putting it past Wizards reserve goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi. Kansas City's usual goalkeeper, Tony Meola, was serving a red card suspension, his second of the season.
The Wizards rarely threatened, despite outshooting the Crew 16-11.
