Tristate Summary

Hogan to head broadcast unit

Clear Channel Communications is expected to name veteran executive John Hogan to head its radio unit, the Wall Street Journal's online edition reported Monday night.

The Journal, quoting anonymous sources, said the move to name Mr. Hogan chief executive of Clear Channel's radio operations — headquartered in Covington — was intended to signal a smooth transition after the abrupt departure last month of former chief Randy Michaels. Mr. Hogan has been president and chief operating officer of the radio operation since August 2001.

A longtime colleague of Mr. Michaels, Mr. Hogan was seen as the driving force behind Clear Channel's radio sales strategy.

Berkshire buying Ind. manufacturer

CTB International Corp., a Milford, Ind.-based farm equipment maker, has signed a $180 million agreement to be purchased by Berkshire Hathaway Inc., the investment firm of billionaire Warren Buffett.

CTB shareholders will receive $12.75 in cash for each of their shares, CTB said Monday. Berkshire Hathaway will also assume $40 million in CTB debt.

Convergys deal worth $29 million

Cincinnati's Convergys Corp. has won a $29 million, three-year contract to provide customer technical support services for Cox Communications' high-speed Internet service. Atlanta-based Cox has been a Convergys billing services client since 1996. Cox, the fifth-largest cable and broadband communications company, has 6.3 million cable subscribers.
