A table for fireworks could still pop up

Where to eat and watch the Riverfest fireworks next Sunday:

To get the full impact of Cincinnati's annual fireworks spectacular on the river — without all the crowds — there's nothing like a table at a restaurant with a view. With a week to go, it's late to find such a table. Some restaurants devote themselves to charity fund-raisers; others have closed out reservations. But you still may be able to find a table here and there.

        You might try:

Mount Adams

For a view from above, the Celestial offers a dinner event. It starts with a reception with open bar at 5:30 p.m., continues with a seven-course tasting menu, and includes a dance band playing before and after the fireworks. Cost: $120 per person. Reservations: 241-4455.

Covington

        • The Riverview Revolving Restaurant will come to a halt at 9 p.m. The tables with a fireworks view can be reserved. Dinner that night is $54.99 per person and includes shrimp cocktail, salad, filet mignon and chicken breast, dessert and a glass of champagne. Reservations: (859) 491-5300.

        • South Beach Grill takes reservations, and has a few left. It will be serving its regular menu. You can go outside before or after dinner to watch the spectacle. Reservations: (859) 581-1414.

        • Zebo's Bistro in the Marriott at Rivercenter is taking reservations for two-hour periods. Even if you don't have a table for the time of the fireworks, you get a wristband that allows access to the patio, where there's a great view. The buffet is $69 per person; $41 for children. It includes salads, a raw bar, hot entrees such as Cajun pecan tilapia and stuffed pork loin, plus desserts. Parking is not included. Reservations: (859) 392-3750.

        • Friday's will charge $75 for a parking pass, a buffet from 4-9 p.m. and a band. Reservations: (859) 491-9595.

Newport

        • The dining room at Mitchell's Fish Market doesn't offer a great view, but the patios and private dining room do. You can reserve seats at a table for one of these areas and dine on a special four-course menu. It includes a couple of choices for each course. Among main course items will be Shanghai Chilean sea bass, steamed lobster or steak. Cost: side patio tables $150 per person, Dockside Patio $200 per person and Captain's Private Dining Room $250 per person (10 person minimum) and children $50 person.. Reservations start at 6 p.m., and the cost includes food, tax and tip. Reservations: (859) 291-7454.

        • Don Pablo's has limited seating. It will serve a Mexican buffet all day. For a table on the patio, the cost is $90 for adults, $60 for children. Inside, it's $70 adults and $40 children. That includes the buffet, two drinks and parking. (859) 261-7100.

        • Claddagh Irish Pub has limited packages for two to 16 people on its patio with a view. Cost: $110 per person. That includes a couple of drinks and dinner. Reservations: (859) 581-8888.
